June: It’s the end of school, the beginning of summer excitement and warm days filled with family and friends. At the Dalton Community Library, June starts some of the most exciting children’s programs. This year’s summer theme is, “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” and our programs are a great way to keep young minds busy and strong.
After talking with many of the community kids and parents, we’ve compiled a group of activities that are fun, challenging and will keep the kids excited for more. We will have Minute to Win It, Get in the Game, and back by popular demand, our very own App Attack!, yoga, art and story time. All are kid favorites containing challenges that are age appropriate and new each week.
Along with the activities is the summer reading program. Registration begins Monday, June 13. The reading program is designed for each child to set their own pace of reading or listening to books. There will be logs to keep track of the number of books or minutes read. It’s a program that encourages children and students to read or listen to books during the busy summer months. Dalton Community Library has some cool prizes for the kids to earn, too.
Our kickoff event is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, when The Amazing Magi will perform. Although it is open to the public, please call 570-563-2014 to sign up by Monday, June 20. With all these awesome, free events, be sure to come to the Dalton Community Library and meet the great kids and people involved with summer programs. Schedules for activities and events will be given at the time of registration.

Also, please keep in mind that our regular schedule of programs for adults will continue all summer. Mahjong, Bridge, Casual Chat and more will stay at their regular times throughout the summer. See our website for a schedule of programs at lclshome.org/dalton.
