We’re in summer mode at the Dalton Community Library and the energy is high. The door is swinging open with lots of smiling faces and the sound of laughter filling the air.
Our summer activities have the kids visiting often and participating in the fun. The Summer Reading Program is off to a good start. The opening event, “The Amazing Magi” was exciting and had the children amazed. Everyone in attendance had a great time hearing stories and lessons along with magic tricks in which the kids were able to participate.
The children’s groups have been meeting for a couple of weeks and the kids are enjoying the summer activities. Our Tuesday groups this summer for older kids are arts and crafts, App Attack!, and Game Changers. We’ve been having a lot of fun with these always changing activities, making new friends and sharing loads of ideas. The younger kids have enjoyed a planting lesson about sunflowers and a bigger, better StoryTime XL. A Dalton Community Library favorite, yoga, will begin July 12. The younger children’s class is at 10:30 a.m. and the older kid’s class is at 11 a.m. Many families are looking forward to Miss Melissa returning to conduct class.
Another group beginning in July that will be for children of all ages will be Book Buddies. This group brings older kids and younger children together for a special reading and sharing time. The older kids will read to the younger children and also play a short game, and review some colors, number and letters. Register for this group by emailing [email protected] or calling 570-563-2014. This group is sure to be fun and educational.
Not only are the kids stopping in to join the summer excitement, but adults are, too. The adult groups of Ma Jong, Bridge, book discussions and others will go on during July as planned. Check our website, lclshome.org/Dalton for days and times of these groups that are always offered. New comers are always welcome.
The Dalton Community Library is a great place for all ages during the summer. Have fun, meet friends and check out a great summer book while there.
Hope to see everyone at the Dalton Community Library!
