SCRANTON — During the month of August, the AFA Gallery, 514 Lackawanna Ave., will display “Arrangements on Paper,” an exhibit featuring work by Waverly Township artist Al Pierce and Sarah Proctor Perdew, of Royal.

Pierce’s work relays abstract thoughts and impressions onto paper and canvas.

Perdew’s illustrations are image collages constructed from observational drawings. Nature is an ever-present theme in her work.

The exhibit will be on display in the Second Floor Gallery Aug. 4-26.

The AFA Gallery will also display an exhibit titled “From Near and Far” at the same time in the First Floor Gallery. It is a collection of artworks by the local and international apprentices, alumni, teachers and associates of the Ani Art Academies, a non-profit organization that provides an intensive multi-year art skills education to aspiring artists around the world.

Opening receptions for both exhibits will be held during First Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 5. As part of AFA’s Second Saturday, the Ani Art Academies will give a presentation at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. The gallery is open from 12 to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

For more information about either exhibit, call 570-969-1040.
