PECKVILLE — A new program along the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail combines a love of nature with a love of yoga.
Community members can stretch, breathe and hike at Explorer Yoga on the Trail at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Blakely Borough Recreation Complex in Peckville. Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area (LHV) and Jaya Yoga will host the program as part of a series of events commemorating Lackawanna Heritage Valley’s 25th anniversary.
Hilary Steinberg, owner and instructor of Jaya Yoga, in Clarks Summit, will lead a combined session of yoga and hiking along the trail. The program concludes with refreshments and light fare immediately following the hike. Donations to benefit Lackawanna Heritage Valley will be accepted.
Yoga mats will be provided to all participants and pre-registration is required. To reserve a place in the class, contact Julie Imel at 570-963-6730, extension 8203, or jimel@lhva.org by Aug. 22. The program is open to people age 12 and older, and yogis of all skill levels are welcome.
Blakely Borough Recreational Complex is located at the intersection of Keystone Avenue and River Street in Peckville. Explorer Yoga participants should enter on the Keystone Avenue side of the park.
