SCRANTON — The auxiliaries at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) and Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) hosted the 16th annual Geisinger Northeast Gala on May 7 at Mohegan Sun Pocono. Proceeds from the event totaled $196,150 in support of programs to improve the quality of care for patients and families at GWV in Wilkes-Barre and GCMC in Scranton.
More than 300 guests attended the Northeast Gala, walking the red carpet into the event and bidding in the silent auctions through their smartphones. Dinner and dancing followed, with music by Sweet Pepper and the Long Hots.
The auxiliaries have expanded their reach and financial support to many departments at GWV and GCMC, funding patient projects such as the Mobile Health Paramedic Program, trauma and emergency training equipment, interactive and personalized touch-screen tablets for patients, genetic testing and cancer screenings and special equipment for GWV’s Tambur Family NICU.
