SCRANTON — Inspired by Lackawanna College’s ongoing ROCKET Project, representatives from Parker Hill Church, which has campuses in Clarks Summit, Dickson City and Wilkes-Barre, recently delivered 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to the college.

The ROCKET Project, which stands for Registrar’s Office Connecting Kids with Educational Tools, began in 2010, when 50 backpacks were delivered to George Bancroft Elementary School in Scranton. This year, 450 backpacks will be delivered to schools, including Bancroft, John Adams Elementary School, John F. Kennedy Elementary School, NativityMiguel Scranton, South Scranton Intermediate School, and in school districts surrounding Lackawanna College’s satellite centers in Bradford, Luzerne, Susquehanna, and Wayne counties.

The donation by Parker Hill’s #backpackproject will allow Lackawanna College to continue the ROCKET Project’s mission to help students begin the school year with the tools they need to succeed.
