SCRANTON — Marywood University’s Principal Leadership Academy will present a talk, titled “Raising Leadership through the Ranks in Public and Catholic School Systems,” on Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the Learning Commons, Room 331. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature Msgr. David L. Tressler, diocesan secretary for Catholic Education, superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Scranton, and a Marywood trustee; and Candis M. Finan, retired superintendent of the Delaware Valley School District and a lecturer in the education department at Marywood.

Marywood University’s Principal Leadership Academy provides current and aspiring school leaders with a distinctive approach to ensuring school success. In addition to his years of priestly service in parishes, Monsignor Tressler has also served in a variety of roles in several school settings, including catechist, religious education director, vice principal, principal and administrator.

Prior to her role as superintendent of the Delaware Valley School District, Finan served in a variety of roles in school settings, including assistant superintendent and director of education for the Delaware Valley School District; reading specialist, language arts teacher, language arts team leader, and English teacher for Wayne Highlands School District; early childhood pre-school coordinator, Durham, England; and Head Start director for campus volunteers, State College.
