NEW MILFORD — The Harford Agricultural Society’s Board of Directors extends a thank you to the community for its support of the 159th Harford Fair.

Those who volunteered, worked, exhibited and attended made it a successful week for the fair. Those who came enjoyed the fair with family and friends, ate the fair food, watched the free Performing Pet Show and Bruno and the Bengal Tigers, experienced the scavenger hunt, rode the rides, listened to the free daily musical entertainment in the Shade Pavilion and enjoyed the arena shows, including truck and tractor pulls, the rodeo, the demolition derby and Chris Janson and Old Dominion.

The ideal fair weather encouraged crowds of fair-goers from Pennsylvania as well as many other states and countries to visit.

Plans are underway to utilize the profit, which goes right back into fair improvements for years to come. Visitors appreciated the major improvements this year in the south end, with newly paved paths. There were many new vendors in the commercial spaces as well as the relocation of the Cheese Steak Stand. The directors have many other items in the long-range planning for the fair.

Community members who are interested in the Harford Fair can become members of the society. All one needs is to have a sponsor who is a member recommend his or her membership. Meetings are held at at 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month in the Lecture Hall at the Harford Church.

Planning for the 160th Harford Fair, scheduled for Aug. 21 through 26, 2017, continues throughout the year.
