SCRANTON — Library Express, located on the second floor of the Marketplace at Steamtown, will host a book signing event with Justina Uram, author of the novel “The Cerulean Locket,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.

Released earlier this year, Uram’s debut novel takes on love, betrayal, family secrets, and political intrigue, when a marginalized Roma from a remote Bulgarian village unearths a powerful politician’s forgotten scandal. Featuring a diverse cast of characters, the novel touches on societal issues surrounding Europe’s Roma while examining the tendencies of human nature.

Uram is an author and public interest attorney with degrees from Penn State Dickinson School of Law and Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. She is a 1998 graduate of Lakeland Junior-Senior High School in Jermyn. Her writing is inspired by her connectedness to family, ethnic ancestry, and study of international law and human rights.
