LA PLUME — Maria Fanning, of Clarks Summit, coordinator of civic engagement and service learning at Keystone College, along with her group of student volunteers, recently completed several community service projects.

First, the Keystone College Winner’s Circle Club sponsored a service activity Friday, Sept. 23 at the Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen in Tunkhannock. The group worked for four hours, preparing, cooking and serving dinner to the guests.

Next, Fanning’s group of helpers volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House 5K Race and Fun Walk Sunday, Sept. 25. The students ran or walked in Nay Aug Park in Scranton, to support and raise awareness for the Ronald McDonald House.

Finally, on Tuesday, Sept. 27 the volunteers traveled to Helping Hands Learning Center in Clarks Summit, where they spent an afternoon reading stories about autumn, helping out with arts and crafts and serving snacks to the children.
