SCRANTON — City poet Thomas Kielty Blomain will read from his newly released book “Yellow Trophies” at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at the Afa Gallery, 514 Lackawanna Ave. and Nov. 4 at the Waverly Community House.

“Yellow Trophies,” from New York Quarterly Books, is Blomain’s third poetry collection. His previous books are “Gray Area” (Nightshade Press) and “Blues From Paradise” (Foothills Publishing). He is also co-editor of the recently released anthology of regional poetry, “Down The Dog Hole,” from Nightshade Press/Keystone College Books.

A musician and songwriter, Blomain also co-produces “Graffiti,” an eclectic poetry and music show for Electric City Television.

Blomain’s poetry is heavily influenced by the Northeastern Pennsylvania region — its history and landscape – and a number of his poems depict specific scenes in and around the poet’s hometown, extrapolating universal themes from common sights in the area, alternating between anger and amusement, with a uniquely characteristic musicality of language.

Admission is free and books will be available for purchase and signing by the author after the readings.
