FACTORYVILLE — Members of the borough council approved a 2017 budget of $326,428.19, with no tax increase, during a regular meeting Dec. 14.

The current tax rate is 20.2 mills with 16.2 dedicated to the borough, two for the fire company building and two for day-to-day operations of the fire company. A mill is a $1 tax on every $1,000 of assessed property value.

Factoryville Borough Manager Mary Ellen Buckbee announced approximately $40,000 remaining from a grant through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program will be used to construct a toddler playground and possibly install new sidewalks at the Clinton Township and Factoryville Borough Joint Municipal Park.

Solicitor Paul Litwin drafted a replacement disorderly gathering ordinance, which will be voted on during the Jan. 11 meeting.

In other business:

• The borough’s sewer rate for 2017 will be $141 per quarter, unchanged from this year.

• Gerard Petula was reappointed to a three-year term on the Zoning Hearing Board.

• Charles Wrobel was reappointed to a five-year term on the Factoryville Borough and Clinton Township Joint Municipal Sewer Authority.

• Thomas Price was reappointed to a four-year term on the Planning Commission.

• Steve Swift was appointed to a four-year term on the Clinton Township and Factoryville Borough Joint Municipal Park Board, replacing Doug Engle.
