1987 — The Benton Lions Club held its annual ice skating party at the Lackawanna State Park.

1997 — Liz Cruciani shared with Abington Journal readers the importance of eating breakfast, even while “on the go.” She included in her column several simple recipes, including the following for a strawberry smoothie shake:

8 frozen strawberries

3/4 c. plain nonfat yogurt

1/2 c. skim milk

3 ice cubes

4 tsp. sugar

Put all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth, about 30 to 45 seconds. Pour in a glass and enjoy while getting dressed.

2007 — Local residents and visitors to the Abingtons came out to see more than 40 ice sculptures during the Abington Business and Professional Association’s Third Annual Clarks Summit Festival of Ice, themed “A Trip Around the World.”
