RANSOM TWP. — The municipal road crew is starting its spring roadwork, Supervisor David Bird announced at the regular township supervisors meeting Monday.

Bird, who also serves as the township’s road master, said the crew already started tree trimming and plans to start working on correcting drainage issues on the upper section of Bald Mountain Road. There is also some patching on the schedule.

In other business:

• Supervisor Dennis Macheska noted the township now has eight cameras installed at its property on Hickory Lane for security purposes.

• This year’s spring cleanup will be held May 12 and 13. Officials are not yet certain whether or not electronics will be accepted for recycling this year.

• The township obtained an MS4 (municipal separate storm sewer systems) exemption status from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

• The township joined the group National Joint Powers Alliance, a municipal contracting agency, which will provide it with more competitive equipment purchasing powers.

• The municipal office will be closed April 24-26 to allow for attendance of the annual Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors Conference.

The next regular township meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, April 3 at the township building on Hickory Lane.
