MOOSIC — Scout leader Jennifer Murley was honored by the Boy Scouts of America, earning the District Award of Merit after being nominated by her peers.

Up to three awards are given each year to adult volunteers.

Murley is involved in Scouting with her husband and fellow leader, Eagle Scout Nick Murley. A Dalton resident, she is active with Troop 251, Clarks Green.

Her leadership positions include:

• Trained member of the Troop Committee (Advancement Chair) for BSA Troop 251 out of Clarks Green.

• Committee member of the Dan Beard District, NEPA Council

• Trained as ASM for unit.

• Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow

• Wood Badge from N5-501-15, Bobwhite

• Trained advisor of Crew 100 in Plains

• Summer camp staff at Goose Pond Scout Reservation

Murley was recognized at her troop meeting by BSA Commissioner and Dunmore Boy Scout leader Mary Ann Hogan. She received a certificate and an invitation to be recognized at the district dinner.

Murley is a Marywood University graduate and holds a Masters Degree in Health Service Administration. She is also a percussionist in and secretary of the Crystal Band of Scranton and is currently employed by Medicus Urgent Care.
