Turkey hunter reportedly shot in face

A man hunting turkey was accidentally shot in the face Saturday morning near Northmoreland Township in Wyoming County, near the Luzerne County border.

Rescue crews responded to a report of a man, in his 40s, who was shot with a 12-gauge shotgun near Butternut Lane.

Medics from the Franklin/Northmoreland crew took one patient to the hospital.

State police at Tunkhannock said the accident didn’t appear to be a fatality, but they said it would be investigated by the State Game Commission. Calls to the the regional Game Commission office near Dallas were not returned.
