CLARKS SUMMIT — Chris Gilbert and Patti Ostroski were crowned champions of the Labor Day Blind Draw Mixed Doubles tournament at the Scranton Tennis Club.

They defeated Robbie Azzarelli and Lori Carroll, 5-3, in the finals, after dispatching Tom Ostrowski and Nidia Marchese in the semifinals, by a score of 5-3.

Azzarelli and Carroll reached the final with a 5-1 defeat of Josh Arp and Joan Davis. Gilbert and Ostroski made it into the playoffs as the wild-card team, as they finished as the second-place team with the best record in the competition, winning one more game than the teams of John Azzarelli-Tori Gilbert and Tom Kerrigan-Lauren Carroll.

In the men’s division Paul DeLuca and Jim Halbert took the title by winning one more game than Tim Aikman and Tony Barrese in the round-robin competition.

A total of 19 teams participated in the tournament. John Weiss was the tournament director.
