Holy Cross doubles team wins JV Girls Invitational Tennis Tournament at Abington Heights

CLARKS SUMMIT — Holy Cross captured both titles in the inaugural JV Girls Invitational Tennis Tournament held on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Abington Heights Middle School.

Lauren Palmiter and Theresa Dutter defeated Scranton Prep’s Amelia Desiderio and Rachel Maculloch, 8-5, in the finals of the main draw, while Kaylee Magda and Elizabeth Arbie took the consolation title with an 8-6 win over Delena Jones and Kushbu Patel from Scranton High School.

In the team competition Holy Cross and Valley View tied with 11 points, with Scranton Prep close behind with 10.

A total of 15 doubles teams from Holy Cross, Scranton, Scranton Prep, Valley View and Abington Heights participated in the event. Abington Heights head coach Kelly Arp and assistant John Weiss served as tournament directors.
