BOYS BASKETBALL

Comets top Trojans

Tim Toro and Jackson Danzig each scored 14 points to help Abington Heights defeat Nanticoke, 51-35, in the Christmas Holiday Tournament on Sunday, Dec. 27 in Wilkes-Barre.

Cavaliers rout Bucks

Logan Bailey scored a game-high 18 points to help lead Scranton Prep over Dunmore, 80-34, in the Lynett Memorial Basketball Tournament on Sunday, Dec. 27 in Scranton. Paddy Casey added 14 for Prep.

Cavs fall to Hoyas

Georgetown Prep defeated Scranton Prep, 76-71, in a non-league game on Tuesday, Dec. 22 in Scranton. Nick Dende scored a team-high 21 points for the Cavaliers and Joe Rossi added 14.

Comets hold off Bucks

Seth Maxwell scored a game-high 19 points to help Abington Heights defeat Dunmore, 58-49, in a Lackawanna League game on Monday, Dec. 21 in Dunmore. Tim Toro added 15 points for the Comets.

Cougars crush Lions

Valley View downed Lackawanna Trail, 56-32, in a Lackawanna League game on Monday, Dec. 21. Anthony Berrios led the Lions with 10 points and Steven Scioscia added seven.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lady Royals down Classics

Holy Redeemer defeated Scranton Prep, 47-28, in a non-league game on Wednesday, Dec. 23 in Scranton. Calista Kline scored 13 points to lead Prep and Julia Sirotnak added seven for the Classics.

Lady Comets knock off Lady Patriots

Cassie Ksiazek scored a game-high 15 points to lead Abington Heights over Pittston Area, 41-27, in a non-league game on Monday, Dec. 21 in South Abington Twp. Nicole Getz added 11 for the Lady Comets.

Lady Lions fall to West

West Scranton downed Lackawanna Trail, 62-26, in a Lackawanna League game on Monday, Dec. 21 in Scranton. Lexie Kwiatkowski led Trail with 15 points and Allison Decker scored seven for the Lady Lions.

Lady Spartans top Classics

Wyoming Valley West defeated Scranton Prep, 51-44, in a non-league game on Monday, Dec. 21 in Plymouth. Jillian Paulus scored 13 points to lead Prep. Tiffany Powell added 11 for the Classics.

Classics top Lady Crusaders

Scranton Prep defeated Holy Cross, 91-69, in a Lackawanna League meet on Wednesday, Dec. 23 in Scranton. Cat Donlon placed first in the 200 and 500 free, Audrey Campo finished first in the 100 back and 200 individual medley, Lauren Lanzendorfer was first in the 50 free and 100 fly, Peyton McNulty placed first in the 100 free and 100 breast and the team of Donlon, Lanzendorfer, Campo and McNulty finished first in the 200 free relay.

Lady Comets edge Lady Buckhorns

Abington Heights defeated Wallenpaupack, 105-78, in a Lackawanna League meet on Monday, Dec. 21 in South Abington Twp. Leah Byman placed first in the 200 individual medley and 100 fly, Laura Hartman finished first in the 50 free and 100 breast, Margorie Myers was first in the 500 free. The team of Hartman, Karley Feather, April Sokalski and Byman placed first in the 200 free relay and the team of Sokalsky, Myers, Hartman and Byman finished first in the 400 free relay.

Lady Comets hold off Classics

Abington Heights defeated Scranton Prep, 101-82, in a Lackawanna League meet on Thursday, Dec. 17 in South Abington Twp. Leah Byman placed first in the 200 free, Margorie Myers finished first in the 500 free.

For Scranton Prep, Peyton McNulty placed first in the 200 individual medley and 100 back, Cat Donlon finished first in the 50 free and 100 fly, Audrey Campo finished first in the 100 free and 100 breast. The team of Peyton McNulty, Campo, Donlon and Lauren Lanzendorfer placed first in the 200 free relay. The team of Lanzendorfer, Victoria Wrobleski, Olivia Rader, and Brenna Klaproth placed first in the 400 free relay.

Cavs knock off Crusaders

Scranton Prep defeated Holy Cross, 97-29, in a Lackawanna League meet on Wednesday, Dec. 23 in Scranton. Joe Kyle Bushta placed first in the 100 and 200 free, Nico Lastauskas finished first in the 200 individual medley and 500 free, Thomas Pfaeffle was first in the 50 free and 100 back, Michael Durr placed first in the 100 fly and Conor McCall finished first in the 100 breast. The Cavs 200 medley relay (Pfaeffle, Lastauskas, Ben Worrell, Ryan Powell), 200 free relay (Bushta, McCall, Durr and Powell) and 400 free relay (Lastauskas, Pfaeffle, Worrell and Patrick Reddington) all placed first.

Comets rout Buckhorns

Abington Heights downed Wallenpaupack, 121-54, in a Lackawanna League meet on Monday, Dec. 21 in South Abington Twp. The team of Brendan Conahan, Chris Suh, Benjamin Vale and Thomas Clifton placed first in the 200 medley relay, Samuel Jubon finished first in the 200 free, Chris Suh was first in the 200 individual medley, Charlie Gromelski placed first in the 100 fly and Vale finished first in the 100 free. The team of Conahan, Clifton, Suh and Jubon was first in the 200 free relay, Luke Gualtieri placed first in the 100 back, Brooks Houck finished first in the 100 breast and the team of Conahan, Clifton, Jubon and Vale was first in the 400 free relay.

Comets top Cavs

Abington Heights downed Scranton Prep, 101-82, in a Lackawanna League meet on Thursday, Dec. 17 in South Abington Twp. The Abington Heights 400 free relay team of Brendan Conahan, Chris Suh, Benjamin Vale and Samuel Jubon placed first. Colin Florey placed first and set a new school record in the diving competition.

For Prep, Patrick Reddington placed first in the 200 free, Conor McCall was first in the 200 individual medley and 500 free, Joe Kyle Bushta finished first in the 50 free and 100 breast, Tom Pfaeffle placed first in the 100 fly, Nico Lastauskas was first in the 100 free and 100 back. The team of Michael Durr, Pfaeffle, Ryan Powell and Bushta placed first in the 200 free relay. The team of Bushta, McCall, Ben Worrell and Lastauskas finished first in the 400 free relay.

WRESTLING

Cougars edge Comets

Valley View downed Abington Heights, 39-34, in a Lackawanna League meet on Tuesday, Dec. 22 in Archbald. Scott Jacoby (106 lbs.), Nick Carr (170), and Anthony Kimble (220) won by pin for the Comets. Noah Sirianni (113) won by forfeit, Owen Hivner (160) won by injury default and Adam Wellard (195) won by major decision.
