BOYS BASKETBALL

Comets rout Wildcats

Jackson Danzig scored a game-high 17 points to lead Abington Heights over Western Wayne, 64-28, in a Lackawanna League game on Friday, Jan. 8 in South Abington Township. Trey Koehler added 11 for the Comets.

Cavs top Invaders

Scranton Prep defeated West Scranton, 52-37, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Friday, Jan. 8 in Scranton. Paddy Casey and Logan Bailey each scored 12 points to lead Prep.

Comets crush Cougars

Jordan Hollander scored a game-high 16 points to lead Abington Heights over Valley View, 63-30, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Tuesday, Jan. 5 in Archbald. Seth Maxwell added 10 for the Comets.

Cavs knock off Knights

Logan Bailey scored a game-high 16 points to help Scranton Prep defeat Scranton, 63-54, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Tuesday, Jan. 5 in Scranton. Paddy Casey added 12 for the Cavaliers.

Lions edge Sabers

Steve Scioscia scored a team-high 11 points to lead Lackawanna Trail past Susquehanna, 44-36, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Tuesday, Jan. 5 in Susquehanna. Anthony Berrios added nine points for Trail.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lady Lions hold off Lady Meteors

Lexie Kwiatkowski scored 21 points to help Lackawanna Trail defeat Montrose, 43-27, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Thursday, Jan. 7 in Montrose. Ally Decker added 10 for Trail.

Lady Comets down Lady Wildcats

Alessia Brunori scored a game-high 14 points to lead Abington Heights past Western Wayne, 51-31, in a Lackawanna League game on Thursday, Jan. 7 in Lake Ariel. Emma Henzes contributed eight points for the Lady Comets.

Classics fall to Lady Invaders

Julia Sirotnak scored a team-high 15 points during Scranton Prep’s 49-33 loss to West Scranton in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Thursday, Jan. 7 in Scranton. Jillian Paulus added 11 for Prep.

Lady Sabers top Lady Lions

Susquehanna clipped Lackawanna Trail, 34-32, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Monday, Jan. 4 in Factoryville. Lexie Kwiatkowski and Ami Sohns each scored eight points for Trail.

Mariah Tulaney scored a game-high 11 points to lead Abington Heights past Valley View, 51-27, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Monday, Jan. 4 in South Abington Twp. Nicole Getz and Hannah Kowalski each added eight points for the Lady Comets.

Comets fall to Warriors

Delaware Valley defeated Abington Heights, 103-83, in a Lackawanna League meet on Thursday, Jan. 7 in South Abington Township. For the Comets, Chris Suh placed first in the 200 individual medley, Brendan Conahan finished first in the 100 free and 100 back, Sam Jubon was first in the 500 free and Colin Florey placed first in the diving competition. The team of Jubon, Suh, Shane Cummings and Ben Vale placed first in the 400 free relay.

Lady Warriors top Lady Comets

Delaware Valley defeated Abington Heights, 108-78, in a Lackawanna League meet on Thursday, Jan. 7 in South Abington Township. Laura Hartman placed first in the 100 fly and Sydney Dana finished first in the diving competition for the Comets. The team of Catherine Simakaski, Sarah Bath, Kelsey Jackson and Margorie Myers placed first in the 400 free relay.

Comets topped by Buckhorns

Wallenpaupack downed Abington Heights, 46-33, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 match on Wednesday, Jan. 6 in South Abington Township. Scott Jacoby (106 lbs.), Noah Sirianni (113), Chris Langan (152), Owen Hivner (160) and Nick Carr (182) won by pin for the Comets and Jacob Rosenstein (126) won by decision.

Cavs down Warriors

Scranton Prep defeated Elk Lake, 67-10, in a Lackawanna League Division 2 match on Wednesday, Jan. 6 in Scranton. Sammy Segers (106 lbs.), Zach Kornfeld (113), Conor Chernesky (120), Grady Germain (126), Liam Moyle (138), Ivan Balavage (182), Conor Jordan (195) and Chris Bender (220) won by forfeit. Thor Balavage (285) and Bruce Parola (170) won by pin, Mike Welsh (132) won by major decision and Biagio D’Apolonio (145) won by decision.

Scranton Prep defeated Valley View, 38-36, in a Lackawanna League Division 2 match on Wednesday, Jan. 6 in Scranton. Sammy Segers (106 lbs.) won by forfeit; Liam Moyle (138), John Redman (152), and Tommy Carroll (160) won by decision; Bruce Parola (170) won by technical fall; and Ivan Balavage (182), Chris Bender (220) and Thor Balavage (285) won by pin.

Western Wayne defeated Lackawanna Trail, 59-13, in a Lackawanna League Division 2 match on Wednesday, Jan. 6 in Kingsley. Justin Ganser (120) won by major decision, Tyler Baltrusaitis (132), Rocco Pacini (170) and Trent Phillips (195) won by decision.

Lions win on tiebreaker

Lackawanna Trail tied Mountain View, 34-34, in a Lackawanna League Division 2 match on Wednesday, Jan. 6 but the Lions were credited the win for winning more individual bouts. Justin Ganser (120 lbs.), Colin Mulhern (126), David Moyle (132) and Trent Phillips (220) won by forfeit, Tyler Baltrusaitis (138) and Thomas Kohinsky (145) won by decision, and Rocco Pacini (182) won by forfeit.
