Comets clobber Hornets

Jackson Danzig scored a game-high 17 points to lead Abington Heights over Honesdale, 64-36, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Friday, Feb. 5 in South Abington Township. Tim Toro added 11 and Seth Maxwell scored 10 for the Comets.

Lions fall to Warriors

Elk Lake topped Lackawanna Trail, 71-55, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Friday, Feb. 5 in Dimock. John Maier led the Lions with 11 points and Anthony Berrios scored nine.

Cavaliers rout Trojans

Scranton Prep defeated North Pocono, 83-47, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Friday, Feb. 5 in Covington Township. Nick Dende led the Cavs with 18 points and Logan Bailey added 17.

Lady Foresters top Lady Lions

Forest City defeated Lackawanna Trail, 60-38, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Monday, Feb. 8 in Forest City. Ally Decker led Trail with 16 points and Lexie Kwiatkowski added eight.

Lady Comets claim division title

Cassie Ksiazek scored 11 points to help Abington Heights defeat Scranton, 43-39, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Monday, Feb. 8 in Scranton. Hannah Kowalski added eight as the Lady Comets clinched the division title.

Classics too much for Lady Warriors

Scranton Prep downed Delaware Valley, 45-27, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Monday, Feb. 8 in Milford. Jillian Paulus led the Classics with 12 points and Julia Sirotnak added 11 for Prep.

Lady Comets crush Lady Hornets

Abington Heights defeated Honesdale, 54-36, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Thursday, Feb. 4 in Honesdale. Mariah Tulaney led the Lady Comets with 13 points and Hannah Kowalski added eight.

Classics hold off Lady Trojans

Scranton Prep downed North Pocono, 44-29, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Thursday, Feb. 4 in Scranton. Jillian Paulus scored 28 points to lead Prep and Julia Sirotnak added 10 for the Classics.

Lady Lions fall to Lady Warriors

Elk Lake topped Lackawanna Trail, 54-22, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Thursday, Feb. 4 in Factoryville. Lexie Kwiatkowski led the Lady Lions with seven points and Cali Fauquier and Laurelann Penn each scored four.

Scranton Prep’s Erin Feeney placed first in the 800 and 1600 meter runs during the Summit University High School Invitational on Friday, Feb. 5 in Clarks Summit. Abington Heights’ Allyson Derry finished first in the 55 meter dash and the Lady Comets 4 X 800 relay team placed first in the event.

Warriors hold off Cavs

Delaware Valley defeated Scranton Prep, 107-72, in a Lackawanna League meet on Monday, Feb. 8 in Milford. Thomas Pfaeffle placed first in the 100 fly and 200 free, Nico Lastauskas finished first in the 500 free and 200 individual medley, Joe Kyle Bushta was first in the 50 and 100 free and Conor McCall placed first in the 100 back. The Prep 200 medley relay team (McCall, Lastauskas, Michael Durr, Bushta) also finished first.

Comets top Knights

Abington Heights defeated Scranton, 113-72, in a Lackawanna League meet on Monday, Feb. 8 in South Abington Township. Shane Cummings placed first in the 50 and 500 free, Colin Florey finished first in the diving competition, Sam Jubon was first in the 100 free, Brendan Conahan placed first in the 100 back and Rohit Nuguri finished first in the 100 breast. The Comets 200 medley relay (Conahan, Charlie Gromelski, Ben Vale, Jubon) and 400 free relay (Thomas Clifton, Conahan, Brooks Houck, Jubon) teams also placed first.

Lady Comets down Lady Knights

Abington Heights defeated Scranton, 113-68, in a Lackawanna League meet on Monday, Feb. 8 in South Abington Township. April Sokalsky placed first in the 100 back, Laura Hartman finished first in the 50 free and 100 breast, Aliza Selznick was first in the 100 fly, Leah Byman placed first in the 100 free and Margorie Myers finished first in the 500 free. The Lady Comets 200 medley (Sokalsky, Hartman, Myers, Byman), 200 free (Byman, Karley Feather, Kelsey Jackson, Danielle Sanok) and 400 free (Myers, Hartman, Sokalsky, Byman) teams also placed first.

Delaware Valley defeated Scranton Prep, 113-64, in a Lackawanna League meet on Monday, Feb. 8 in Milford. Cat Donlon placed first in the 200 and 500 free, Audrey Campo finished first in the 50 and 100 free and Lauren Lanzendorfer was first in the 1o0 fly. The Classics 200 medley (Donlon, Campo, Victoria Wrobleski, Lanzendorfer) and 200 free (Donlon, Campo, Lanzendorfer, Wrobleski) teams also placed first.

Comets knock off Cavs

Abington Heights downed Scranton Prep, 49-24, in a Lackawanna League crossover meet on Saturday, Feb. 6 in South Abington Township. Scott Jacoby (106 lbs.), Noah Sirianni (113), Eric Jacoby (145), Logan Hivner (160) and Nick Carr (182) won by pin for the Comets. Jacob Rosenstein (126) and Anthony Kimble (220) won by forfeit; Juan Loboda (132) won by decision and Chris Langan (152) won by major decision for Abington Heights. Connor Chernesky (120) won by forfeit for Prep. Alec Buttner (138) won by technical fall, Tommy Carroll (170) won by decision, Ivan Balavage (195) won by major decision and Thor Balavage (285) won by pin for the Cavs.

Abington Heights defeated Nanticoke, 76-6, in a non-league meet on Wednesday, Feb. 3 in South Abington Township. Scott Jacoby (106 lbs.), Jacob Rosenstein (126), Juan Loboda (132), Logan Hivner (160), Jack Hildebrand (182) and Adam Wellard (195) won by pin. Sean Myers (138) won by injury default. Sam Northup (145) won by major decision. Chris Langan (152), Nick Carr (170), Anthony Kimble (220) and Joe Makowski (285) won by forfeit.

Meteors top Cavs

Montrose defeated Scranton Prep, 58-21, in a consolation quarterfinal match of the District 2 Class 2A Duals on Wednesday, Feb. 3 in Wilkes-Barre. Zach Kornfeld (113 lbs.) and Bruce Parola (170) won by forfeit for the Cavaliers. Biagio D’Appolinio (145) won by decision and Ivan Balavage (182) won by pin.

Hawkeyes too much for Cavaliers

Hanover Area downed Scranton Prep, 51-27, in the championship quarterfinals of the District 2 Class 2A Duals on Wednesday, Feb. 3 in Wilkes-Barre. Sammy Segers (106 lbs.) and Zach Kornfeld (113) won by forfeit. Tommy Carroll (160) and Ivan Balavage (182) won by pin. Bruce Parola (170) won by decision.
