BASEBALL

Invaders knock off Comets

West Scranton defeated Abington Heights, 6-1, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Monday, April 25 in Scranton. Matt Hughes had two hits and an RBI for the Comets.

Red Raiders too much for Trail

Blue Ridge defeated Lackawanna Trail, 7-1, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Thursday, April 21 in New Milford. Nick Rolka, Nathan Rolka and Thomas Vokes each had a hit for the Lions.

Cougars down Cavs

Valley View defeated Scranton Prep, 9-8, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Thursday, April 21 in Scranton. Vince Cimini knocked in three runs for Prep. Tyler Stafursky had two RBI’s and Kyler McAllister and Kyle Polishan each drove in one.

Knights edge Comets

Scranton defeated Abington Heights, 9-7, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Thursday, April 21 in South Abington Township. Luke Fayocavitz, Zach Spangenberg, Sam Arnold, Matt Hughes and Nick Carlini each had an RBI for the Comets.

Lions fall to Blue Devils

Old Forge defeated Lackawanna Trail, 12-2, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Wednesday, April 20 in Old Forge. Nathan Rolka had three hits and drove in two runs for the Lions.

Cougars top Cavaliers

Valley View defeated Scranton Prep, 10-3, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Tuesday, April 19 in Archbald. Jake Grady drove in two runs and Jack Burke added an RBI for Prep.

BOYS LACROSSE

Cavs crush Warriors

Greg Fisher scored five goals to lead Scranton Prep over Wyoming Area, 17-9, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 match on Friday, April 22 in Exeter.

Cavs rout Black Knights

Scranton Prep defeated Lake-Lehman, 13-4, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 match on Wednesday, April 20 in Scranton. Daniel Hinton scored five goals to lead Prep.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Classics hold off Lady Patriots

Cara Kopicki scored three goals to help lead Scranton Prep over Pittston Area, 6-3, in a Wyoming Valley Conference crossover match on Wednesday, April 20 in Pittston.

SOFTBALL

Lady Warriors nip Classics

Delaware Valley topped Scranton Prep, 1-0, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Monday, April 25 in Milford. Emma Graham and Isabella Gorzkowski each had a hit for the Classics.

Lady Comets defeat Lady Buckhorns

Kaylee DeMatteo drove in three runs and Dominique Emmett added two RBIs to lead Abington Heights over Wallenpaupack, 10-4, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Monday, April 25 in Hawley. Paige Harris struck out six batters and earned the win.

Lady Lions rout Lady Foresters

Mackenzie Duffy and Madison Lee each drove in two runs to lead Lackawanna Trail over Forest City, 10-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Monday, April 25 in Factoryville. Allison Decker allowed four hits over seven innings to pick up the win.

Lady Lions top Lady Raiders

Madison Lee, Samantha Baltrusaitis and Rachel Rosengrant each drove in a run to help Lackawanna Trail defeat Blue Ridge, 6-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Thursday, April 21 in New Milford. Allison Decker allowed four hits and stuck out six to earn the win.

Lady Cougars blank Classics

Valley View defeated Scranton Prep, 12-0, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Thursday, April 21 in Scranton. Reilly Ruane and Aubrey Savage each had a hit for Prep.

Lady Comets shut out Lady Knights

Naudia Solan drove in the only run during Abington Heights, 1-0, win over Scranton in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Thursday, April 21 in South Abington Township. Paige Harris allowed two hits and stuck out eight batters in eight innings to earn the win.

Lady Lions too much for Lady Devils

Madison Lee had two hits and two RBIs to help Lackawanna Trail defeat Old Forge, 7-2, in a Lackawanna League crossover game on Wednesday, April 20 in Old Forge. Madisyn People added three hits and Allison Decker was credited with the win.

Lady Comets win fifth straight

Cassidy Bartkowski, Paige Harris and Maddie Brown each had two hits to lead Abington Heights over Scranton, 8-4, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Tuesday, April 19 in Scranton. Harris also allowed three earned runs over seven innings to earn the win on the mound.

Lady Cougars down Classics

Valley View defeated Scranton Prep, 4-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game on Tuesday, April 19 in Archbald. Isabella Gorzkowski drove in both runs for Prep.

Scranton Prep defeated North Pocono, 5-0, in a Lackawanna League match on Monday, April 25 in Scranton. Pete Kazmierczak, Tarquin McGurrin and Jack Habeeb had singles wins. The team of Rhys Kelly-Nick LaBelle and Sahil Garg-Logan Gregory won in doubles.

Comets hold off Crusaders

Abington Heights defeated Holy Cross, 4-1, in a Lackawanna League match on Friday, April 22 in Scranton. Sahas Chandragiri, Rishi Mulloth and Brandon Ostrowski won singles matches for the Comets. The team of Dylan Eisenlohr-Owen Holland won in doubles.

Abington Heights defeated Scranton Prep, 3-2, in a Lackawanna League match on Thursdau, April 21 in Clarks Summit. Brandon Ostrowski had a singles win for the Comets and the teams of Jacob Linker-Spencer Gilbert anf Eric Mahoney-Timmy Christman won in doubles play. Pete Kazmierczak and Tarquin McGurrin had singles wind for Prep.

Scranton Prep defeated Riverside, 5-0, in a Lackawanna League match on Wednesday, April 20 in Scranton. Pete Kazmierczak, Tony Kutz and Tarquin McGurrin won in singles play. Jack Habeeb-Sahil Garg and Nick LaBelle-Rhys Kelly won in doubles action.

Lakeland defeated Lackawanna Trail, 113-36, in a Lackawanna League meet on Thursday, April 21 in Jermyn. Matt Kinback (1600), Cody Stuenzi (triple jump) and Colin Holmes (pole vault) were first place finishers for Trail.

Cavs top Hornets

Scranton Prep defeated Honesdale, 97-53, in a Lackawanna League meet on Thursday, April 21 in Honesdale. David Horvath (100 and 200), Peter Burke (1600), Tommy Doherty (400), Tristen Shoemaker (800), AJ Sluko (3200),Max Borgia ( shot put), Gary Wrobleski (discus), Lucas Stage (javelin) and Varghese Pattara (triple jump) were first place finishers for Prep. The Cavs’ 400 (Stage, Durr, Ryan, Horvath), 1600 (Durr, Sweeney, Bolus, Shoemaker) and 3200 (Decarli, Sauter, Doherty, Shoemaker) relay teams also placed first.

Knights knock off Cavaliers

Scranton defeated Scranton Prep, 100-50, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 meet on Tuesday, April 19 in Scranton. David Horvath (100), Tristen Shoemaker (400), Kevin Holmes (200), Pat Tully (discus) and Ryan Powell (long jump) were first place finishers for Prep.

Cougars edge Comets

Valley View defeated Abington Heights, 82-68, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 meet on Tuesday, April 19 in South Abington Twp. Dan Uhranowski (1600 and 3200), Chrisian Schimelfenig (400), Greg Borgia (300 hurdles), Kyle Burke (800), Matt Coggins (shot put),Bailey Harris (long and triple jump) and Colin Florey (pole vault) were first place finishers for the Comets.

Warriors hold off Lions

Elk Lake defeated Lackawanna Trail, 83-66, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 meet on Tuesday, April 19 in Dimock. Cody Moyle (110 hurdles, Anthony Berrios (100 and 200), and Matt Kinback (1600) were first place finishers. The Lions 400 relay team (Maier, Moyle, Bergey, Berrios) also placed first.

Lady Chiefs top Lady Lions

Lakeland defeated Lackawanna Trail, 122-18, in a Lackawanna League meet on Thursday, April 21 in Jermyn.

Honesdale defeated Scranton Prep, 85-65, in a Lackawanna League meet on Thursday, April 21 in Honesdale. Kate McGrath (100, 100 hurdles and triple jump), Adiya Golden (1600) and AJ Hendershot (javelin) were first place finishers for Prep.

The Classics 400 (Thomas, Ducas, Penetar, Caucci) and 3200 (Welby, Kerr, Zehner, Lapinski)relay team also placed first.

Lady Comets crush Lady Cougars

Abington Heights defeated Valley View, 115-35, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 meet on Tuesday, April 19 in South Abington Twp. Calista Marzolino (100 hurdles and high jump), Kelsey Wynn (100), Alex Scheuermann (1600), Katie Dammer (400 and 3200), Celia Davis (300 hurdles), Carly Danoski (800), Allyson Derry (200, long jump and triple jump), Hannah White (javelin) and Dani Heine ( pole vault) were first place finishers for Abington. The Lady Comets 3200 (Calvo, Myers, Wright, Danoski), 400 (Wynn, Clauss, Henzes, Derry) and 1600 (Yarns, Danoski, Henzes, Davis) relay teams each placed first.

Classics top Lady Knights

Scranton Prep defeated Scranton, 91-52, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 meet on Tuesday, April 19 in Scranton. Kate McGrath (100 hurdles and long jump), Kate Reilly (400, 800 and 1600), and Kat Dzwonczyk (shot put, discus and javelin) were first place finishers for the Classics. Prep’s 3200 (Welby, Lapinski, Walsh, Kerr) and 400 (Burley, Hicks, Chandler, Miles) relay teams also placed first.

Lady Lions fall to Lady Warriors

Elk Lake downed Lackawanna Trail, 117-27, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 meet on Tuesday, April 19 in Dimock. Courtney Petrilak (100 hurdles and long jump) and Amanda Kinback (800) placed first for Trail.

Comets crush Foresters

Kevin Albright had 10 kills and Sean Salmon added 18 assists to lead Abington Heights over Forest City, 3-0, in a Lackawanna League match on Wednesday, April 20 in Forest City.
