Abington American finishes tied for fifth in 10-11 year-old state All-Star baseball tournament

Abington American pitcher Garrett Pietryka earned a win during the team first game on the Pennsylvania 10-11 year-old baseball All-Star tournament on Friday, July 29 in Mount Union.

MOUNT UNION — The Abington American 10-11 year-old All-Star baseball team won one game and lost two to tie for fifth place in the state tournament.

Abington American defeated Upper Providence, 20-10, on Friday, July 29.

Winning pitcher Garrett Pietryka led American with three singles, a grand slam and seven RBIs. Noah McCarty had a single and home run, Colin Davis had two singles and a home run, Nico Bossi had a single, double and home run, and Brodie Robertson had a single and home run for the winning team.

Abington American fell to North Allegheny, 11-8, on Sunday, July 31.

Garrett Pietryka had a double and home run, Brodie Robertson had a single and double, and Nico Bossi added a double for American, who left nine runners on base during the loss.

Abington American was defeated by Lionville, 26-9, on Monday, Aug. 1, ending its tournament run.

Garrett Pietryka had three hits, including a home run, and three RBI, Noah McCarty had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI, Colin Davis and Jack Burke each hit a home run, and Keegan Litts had three hits, including a double, for American.
