Abington Gators Youth Swim registration, ongoing, practices begin Oct. 3. Fee: $235 ($100 deposit due at registration). There is a $25 discount for each successive child within the same family and the fee includes a team suit, cap and T-shirt. The Abington Gators is a competitive swim league for kids ages 6-14, a member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Age Group Swim League. Register: www.abingtongators.com.

Factoryville Sportsmen’s Club Sporting Clays course, open Wednesdays 9 a.m. to dusk through September. Member cost: $25 for 100 birds and $13 for 50 birds. 7th Annual Heritage Explorer Bike Tour, beginning between 8-9:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at the Blakely Borough Recreational Complex in Peckville. The tour offers four routes extending from the complex north on the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail and through neighborhood streets in 17 municipalities. Each route has Station Stops along the course with complimentary water, snacks and activities. Riders can choose a 5, 11 or 22-mile course or the more challenging Union Dale Pusher, a 44-mile course which follows the Delaware and Hudson (D&H) Rail-Trail into the Endless Mountains. Several registration packages are available, each including a light breakfast and lunch upon return to the complex. Cost: Military, $30 per person; Seniors (60+), $30 per person; Adults (18+), $35 per person; Family (includes up to two adults and four children under 18), $60; Team (includes up to six adults, age 18 & up), $130. Knights of Columbus St. Ann’s Basilica Council 12572 Golf Tournament, check-in 11 a.m., tee time 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at Pine Hills Country Club, 140 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor. Captain and crew format. Cost: $340 per foursome. Registration fee includes green fees, cart, dinner, a gift and prizes. There will be closest to the pin, longest drive, circle of gold and chipping contests. 5Kate: The Mental Illness Awareness Run/Walk and Kids Run in memory of Katie Shoener, noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at Valor Field at Scranton Memorial Stadium and the Lackawanna Heritage Trail. Registration will be held prior to and on the day of the race. Cost: Teen and adult runners and walkers, $25; Children, $5. Kids will receive candy bags in conjunction with Halloween. The event will feature live entertainment from the Gerard Mayer Band, tents, local organizations, kid’s games and “trick or treating,” counsellors and a local speaker. Costumes are not required, but encouraged.
