5Kate: The Mental Illness Awareness Run/Walk and Kids Run in memory of Katie Shoener, noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at Valor Field at Scranton Memorial Stadium and the Lackawanna Heritage Trail. Registration will be held prior to and on the day of the race. Cost: Teen and adult runners and walkers, $25; Children, $5. Kids will receive candy bags in conjunction with Halloween. The event will feature live entertainment from the Gerard Mayer Band, tents, local organizations, kid’s games and “trick or treating,” counsellors and a local speaker. Costumes are not required, but encouraged.
