CLARKS SUMMIT — Holy Cross High School captured both individual and team honors Saturday, Sept. 24 during the 2nd annual High School Girls JV Doubles Tennis Tournament at the Abington Heights Middle School courts.

Gianna Calciano and Haley Bestryicki took the doubles title with an 8-4 win over their teammates, Kaylee Magda and Hannah Carr, while Abigail Lynott and Lucia Nardelli, also of Holy Cross, won the consolation event with an 8-6 win over Maggie Hall and Julia Poulson-Houser of Abington Heights.

In semifinal action, Calciano and Bestryicki, the top seed from Holy Cross, eliminated Abington Heights’ top team of Caroline Cole and Holly Ross, 8-3, while Magda and Carr, Holy Cross’ number three team, ousted Scranton Prep’s top team of Abby Delia and Anna Cuff, 8-1.

Holy Cross won the team title with a total of 20 points, followed by Abington Heights and Scranton Prep, each with eight points, and Scranton High School with one point.
