COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Clarks Summit native Adam Rippon, the reigning United States champion, won the bronze medal at the 2016 Trophèe de France in Paris Nov. 12 as part of the of the 2016 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.

Rippon represents the Skating Club of New York. He trains in Lakewood, Calif., where he is coached by Rafael Arutunian.

In fourth place after the short program, Rippon turned in the second-best free skate of the event to win the bronze medal. His performance, set to “Arrival of the Birds” by The Cinematic Orchestra and “O” by Coldplay, opened with a quadruple toe loop followed by seven triple jumps, four of which earned bonus points for being performed in the second half of the program. He earned a personal-best 182.28 points for the segment, en route to a total score of 267.53.

The bronze marks Rippon’s second medal of the 2016 Series, having also won bronze at 2016 Progressive Skate America last month.

The gold medal went to Javier Fernandez of Spain. The silver went to Denis Ten of Kazakhstan.

The Grand Prix Series, now in its 22nd season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 300 athletes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the series. Each athlete is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2016 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, Dec. 8‐11, in Marseille, France.
