Comets hold off Warriors

Abington Heights defeated Delaware Valley, 7-4, in a Lackawanna League Division 1-2 crossover game April 10 in Milford. Colin McCreary, Ryan Harvey and Jake Swank each drove in two runs for the Comets. Pitcher Nick Termini allowed two runs over four innings to earn the win.

Lions fall to Meteors

Montrose defeated Lackawanna Trail, 5-1, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game April 4 in Moosic. D.J. Klinges had a hit and RBI for the Lions. Nate Rolka and Shawn Jones each also had a hit for Trail. Rolka allowed one earned run and struck out seven batters without allowing a hit in three innings.

Lady Warriors rout Lady Comets

Delaware Valley defeated Abington Heights, 16-0, in a Wyoming Valley Conference game April 6 in Milford.

SOFTBALL

Lady Comets crush Lady Wildcats

Abington Heights defeated Western Wayne, 8-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 1-2 crossover game April 10 in South Abington Township. Cassidy Bartkowski led Abington with three hits. Alison Kane and Meghan McGinley each had two hits and two RBIs. McGinley allowed one earned run and struck out seven batters over six innings to earn the win.

Lady Cougars shut out Lady Comets

Valley View defeated Abington Heights, 11-0, in a Lackawanna League Division 1 game April 9 in South Abington Township. Mara Hamm, Alison Kane, Nina Kozar, Catherine Anne Kupinski and Emily Scarfo each had a hit for the Lady Comets.

Comets edge Spartans

Timmy Christman, Brian Ostrowski and Spencer Gilbert earned singles wins to help Abington Heights defeat Mid Valley, 3-2, in a Lackawanna League match April 10 in Clarks Summit.

Comets sweep Meteors

Abington Heights defeated Montrose, 5-0, in a Lackawanna League match April 5 in Clarks Summit. Bailey Harris, Timmy Christman and Brian Ostrowski had singles wins for the Comets. The doubles teams of Spencer Gilbert-Owen Holland and Varun Iyengar-Kyle Osterhout also earned wins.

Comets clip Invaders

Abington Heights defeated West Scranton, 77-73, in a Lackawanna League meet April 5 in Scranton. Antonio Maletta placed first in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles for Abington Heights. Dan Uhranowsky finished first in the 800 and 1600 meter runs, Ryan Siebecker placed first in the 3200 meter run, Mickey Farry was first in the shot put and Noah Golosky placed first in the javelin. The Comets 3200 meter relay team (Cole Madera, Noah Bolus, Peter Egan and Ethan Mattox) also placed first.

Lady Comets rout Lady Invaders

Abington Heights defeated West Scranton, 128-22, in a Lackawanna League meet April 5 in Scranton. Calista Marzolino placed first in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles and high jump for Abington Heights. Allyson Derry finished first in the 100 meter dash and the long and triple jumps, Katie Dammer was first in the 800 and 1600 meter runs, Dani Beamish placed first in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, Alex Scheuermann finished first in the 3200 meter run, Megan Healey was first in the javelin and Dani Heine placed first in the pole vault. The Lady Comets 3200 meter relay (Ellie Wright, Blanca Calvo, Celia Davis and Annie Wesolowski), 400 meter relay (Derry, Erin Albright, Heine, Clauss) and 1600 meter relay (Albright, Anna Marchetta, Beamish, Dammer) teams also placed first.

Comets top Wildcats

Abington Heights defeated Western Wayne, 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-19) in a Lackawanna League match April 6 in Lake Ariel. Evan Florey had eight kills to lead the Comets.

Comets blank Foresters

Abington Heights defeated Forest City, 3-0 (25-7, 25-22, 25-15), in a Lackawanna League match April 4 in Clarks Summit. George Kronick had eight kills and Peter Heckman added six aces for the Comets.
