Sophomore Katie Dammer earned an individual state medal with a seventh-place finish and led Abington Heights to fourth place in the team standings Saturday morning in the Class AA girls race of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Cross Country Championships at the Hershey Parkview Course.

Scranton Prep’s Erin Feeney finished second to repeat champion Ally Rome from Dallas as part of a strong District 2 performance that put three runners in the top seven.

Abington Heights placed five runners in the top 84 of the 213-runner field.

Dammer was followed by Alex Scheuermann in 50th, Claire Traweek 67th, Carly Danoski 81st and Meghan Beahan 84th.

The top five runners count in the team score, which does not count runners who are in the meet as individual entries only.

Villa Maria Academy from District 10 won with 50 points.

Danville was second with 117, followed by Villa Joseph Marie from District 1 with 122, Abington Heights with 142 and Quaker Valley with 144.

The other Abington Heights runners were Maddie Show in 157th and Emma Marion in 161st.

Scranton Prep got a second runner in the meet when freshman Mia Bellucci, who had just missed qualifying last week, was added because Tunkhannock’s Maggie Toczko withdrew with an injury. Bellucci took advantage of the opening to place 74th.

Pat Cosgrove was the only Scranton Prep runner in the Class AA boys race. He finished 147th.

Lackawanna Trail’s Ashleigh Clarke was 104th in Class A girls. Lackawanna Trail’s Matt Kinback was 60th and Bobby Titus 186th out of 226 runners in Class A boys.
