Kyler McAllister drove in two runs to help Scranton Prep defeat Dallas, 7-4, in the first round of the District 2 Class 3A baseball playoffs on Friday, May 20 in Dallas. Nate Fiala allowed eight hits over five innings and earned the win.

Eagles hold off Lions

Mountain View defeated Lackawanna Trail, 6-4, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game on Tuesday, May 17 in Factoryville. Nick Rolka and Nathan Rolka each drove in a run for the Lions.

Cavaliers crush Comets

Daniel Hinton scored six goals to lead Scranton Prep past Crestwood, 17-4, in the semifinals of the District 2 playoffs on Saturday, May 21 in Scranton.

Cavs rout Black Knights

Anthony Osticco scored six goals to help Scranton Prep defeat Lake-Lehman, 20-1, in the quarterfinals of the District 2 playoffs Wednesday, May 18 in Scranton.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Lady Knights edge Classics

Lake-Lehman defeated Scranton Prep, 10-9, in the quarterfinals of the District 2 playoffs Thursday, May 19 in Lehman Township. Cara Kopicki and Claire Turned each scored three goals for Prep.

Classics clobber Lady Tigers

Claire Turner, Kerry McGrath and Christine Kaffka each scored three goals to help Scranton Prep defeat Tunkhannock, 14-3, in the first round of the District 2 playoffs Tuesday, May 17 in Scranton.

SOFTBALL

Classics fall to Lady Bulldogs

Berwick topped Scranton Prep, 4-3, in the first round of the District 2 Class 3A playoffs Monday, May 23 in Berwick. Isabella Gorzkowski and Emily Holtsmaster each drove in a run for Prep.

Lady Eagles top Lady Lions

Mountain View downed Lackawanna Trail, 5-2, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game Tuesday, May 17 in Factoryville. Samantha Baltrusaitis had two hits and two RBIs for Trail. Madison Lee added three hits for the Lady Lions.

Prep downed in state semis

Sewickley Academy defeated Scranton Prep, 3-0, in the semifinals of the PIAA Class 2A team tennis tournament Saturday, May 21 in Hershey.

Cavs win in quarters

Scranton Prep defeated Lower Moreland, 3-1, in the quarterfinals of the PIAA Class 2A team tennis tournament Friday, May 20 in Hershey. Tarquin McGurrin and Peter Kazmierczak had singles wins for Prep. The Cavs team of Jack Habeeb-Sahil Garg won in doubles.

Comets pair falls in title match

Abington Heights’ team of Rishi Mulloth-Brandon Ostrowski lost to Delaware Valley’s Devin Paulison-Kevin Osczepinski in the District 2 Class 3A doubles championship Thursday, May 19 in Wilkes-Barre.

Prep duo claims doubles title

Scranton Prep’s team of Peter Kazmierczak-Tony Kutz defeated teammates Tarquin McGurrin-Jack Habeeb to win the District 2 Class 2A doubles championship Thursday, May 19 in Wilkes-Barre.

Cavs win first state match

Scranton Prep defeated Lancaster County Day, 5-0, in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A Boys Tennis Tournament Tuesday, May 17 in Clarks Summit. Pete Kazmierczak, Tarquin McGurrin and Tony Kutz had singles wins. The teams of Rhys Kelly-Nick LaBelle and Jack Habeeb-Sahil Garg won in doubles.

Hershey downed Abington Heights, 4-1, in the first round of the PIAA Class 3A Boys Tennis Tournament Tuesday, May 17 in Clarks Summit. Rishi Mulloth had a singles win for the Comets.

Comets eliminated from districts

Crestwood defeated Abington Heights, 3-2, in the first round of the District 2-11 Class 2A boys volleyball playoffs Wednesday, May 18 in Clarks Summit. Rob McGarry led Abington with 11 kills and Sean Salmon contributed 28 assists and an ace.
