Interdependence Day was created as a time to reflect upon the importance of living peacefully in a global society. Launched in response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the first Interdependence Day was held on Sept. 12, 2003 in Scranton, Philadelphia, and Budapest, Hungary, and at several college campuses across the nation. In the intervening years, communities around the world have joined this important international effort.
