Ayla Holgate, 6, shown, a student at South Abington Elementary School, presented the Abington Community Library with a donation of more than 70 children's books.

She collected the books from her friends, who she asked to bring books instead of presents to her birthday party Oct. 7.

She and her mother, Carlie Holgate, and sisters Paige and Violet, delivered the books to the library Oct. 12. The library presented Ayla with a certificate in recognition of her generosity.

Carlie Holgate said her daughter decided to collect the books for the library because she and her whole family love going to the library and the various programs there.
