MAYFIELD — Lackawanna Trail Envirothon teams participated in the Lackawanna/Wyoming County Envirothon competition at the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) site.
Trail’s sophomore team, The Trail Cats, won the competition with a score of 338 while the school’s senior team, the Trail Blazers, finished second overall with a score of 337.
Eighteen local high school teams competed. The Trail Cats included Alec Jones, Rachel Saxton, Josh Semken, Monica Stuenzi and Connor Tobin. The Trail Blazers team members included Allison Decker, Alaina Jones, Caroline Mack, Jennifer Price and Jacob Wescott. Trail’s junior team, The Trail Mix, finished fourth overall. Trail Mix members included Kiana Grella, Nathan Rolka, Josh Rosengrant, Samantha Schur and Zack Stec.
The Trail Cats represented Wyoming County at the 35th State Envirothon competition at Susquehanna University May 22-23. The team competed in five environmental testing stations and was scored on an oral presentation, placing 41st out of 64 Commonwealth counties.
